The Corporate Services directorate is responsible for finance, revenues and benefits, internal audit, fraud, risk management, insurance, human resources, legal and governance, communications team, digital, IT, registration and celebrant services, coroners service and, corporate policy, performance and improvement.

Our jobs are advertised on the Greater Jobs website and open to all.  The Council also has an award-winning apprenticeship scheme with new recruits joining every year.  It is also possible for existing employees to move roles within the Council through applying for advertised vacancies.

You would be based on Number One Riverside in Rochdale, however we do operate hybrid working arrangements so there would be the chance to work from home for part of the week.

This will depend very much on the role/s you are interested in.  However, all our roles require people who are committed to good team working, communication skills and IT skills and can demonstrate our values of Proud, Passionate, Pioneering and Open.

What skills and experience do I need?

No, not at all.  Whilst some roles will require a professional qualification, there may be opportunities in other roles to obtain the qualification whilst working which in turn can support your career progression.  There are many examples of staff you have joined us straight from school or college and have flourished within the service and Council.

Do I need to go to university?

Working in HR means having the opportunity to not only work in HR but also payroll, pensions, operational HR, recruitment and HR systems.  Our role is to support the organisation and its workforce so they can deliver quality public services to the residents, workers, students and visitors to the borough of Rochdale.
