I joined Stockport Council in 2017 after graduating from university in the summer of 2017. I applied for the position of Graduate Civil Engineer because I liked that I had the opportunity to rotate into different services within the council.
In addition, Stockport Council provides the ICE training scheme which allowed me to progress to become a Chartered Civil Engineer. I was offered a permanent role as a Senior Officer 1 after 3 years of being a Graduate Civil Engineer and 2 years later I have been promoted to Senior Officer 2. I enjoy the job as it provides a mixture of experience and allows me to deliver a scheme from start to finish. My next step is obtaining my chartership with the ICE and a future goal would be to become a Team Leader hopefully.
