Hospitality

Hospitality hiring never stops.

inploi gets applications finished on a phone and tells each manager when they are ready to read, on the ATS you already have.

Compass Group, wagamama, Côte, GAIL's and Haven hire with inploi.

All year

Turnover, peaks and openings, all at the same time.

Students and seasonal staff move on. Summer and Christmas need extra hands. New sites need full teams. Many hospitality employers are doing all three at once, with the same small team.

When hiring falls behind, the gap is filled by agency staff at a higher cost, or by the people already on the rota working longer.

Problem roles

Some roles fill in a week. Others stay open for a month.

A problem role is not a job title. It is a role, a place and a moment: a chef in a seaside town, a night shift, a kitchen porter where the local labour market is thin. Raising the budget everywhere mostly pays for the roles that were going to fill anyway.

Problem roles carry the highest cost per application, so they are where putting the budget in the right place pays back most.

The application

A long form on a phone loses people before anyone reads them.

A multi-stage form that sends a candidate from page to page is where people give up, and a phone after a long shift is the least forgiving place to fill one in.

The candidates lost there never show up in a report. They are simply not in the pile.

Who does the hiring

The person reading the applications is usually running a shift.

Across many sites, the screen falls to a general manager, a head chef or a unit manager, between a service, a delivery and the rota. Applications wait for a quiet moment that rarely comes.

Meanwhile the candidate has applied to several other places from the same phone, often after a shift somewhere else. In hospitality the first employer to reply is often the one that hires, so a good candidate who waits a day takes the job down the road.

Compass Group gave its managers hiring manager notifications and a live view of their own jobs, so the people doing the hiring know when there is something to read.

How inploi helps

inploi is the hiring experience platform for large frontline employers. The Candidate Agent and Hiring Agent handle the admin, and your people do the hiring. Careers sites, conversational apply, job distribution, and analytics and attribution work around the agents, connected to the ATS you already run. It is software with a service: you get a team that works with yours, not just a login.

Conversational apply in place of the form

The first stage of the application is a conversation, shaped by role, that captures what you need without sending anyone from page to page. At Compass Group it replaced the multi-stage form for every role.

Each manager sees their own jobs

Hiring manager notifications tell each manager when applications are ready to read and give them a live view of their own jobs. The Hiring Agent ranks every application with reasoning they can read. It ranks and never rejects: the decision stays with a person.

Budget behind the roles that stay open

Job distribution gives problem roles their own segment and budget, so the money follows the roles that are short rather than the ones that fill themselves.

Keeps the HR systems you have

inploi sits in front of your ATS: open roles flow onto your careers site and every applicant goes straight back into it. Compass Group kept Tribepad and every HR system in place.
